After being postponed twice due to COVID, the Royal Parks Half Marathon is finally going ahead this weekend and we have an amazing team of 12, running and fundraising for SLOW.
Many are running in memory of beautiful children all lost far too soon.
There’s Julia running for Nola,
Adrian running and remembering Henry,
Felicity running in memory of Maude,
James running in memory of his niece Nina,
and Mark running in memory of his son Ed.
The parents of these children have found support at SLOW, keeping their child’s memory alive and sharing their grief with others who understand the devastating pain of losing a child. With this fundraising we hope to support even more bereaved parents and siblings in the UK over the coming year.
It’s been a difficult time for fundraising with the pandemic so we are overjoyed with what this amazing team have raised so far but there’s still time to donate if you can spare a few pennies – we’d be truly grateful!

We have a number of places for the Royal Park’s Half Marathon in London on 10th October 2021. The stunning 13.1 mile route takes in the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. Registration is free for each place with a minimum fundraising target or £450 per runner.

Like many small charities, SLOW has been impacted by the cancellation of fundraising events due to Covid-19. In response, we’re joining the 2.6 challenge and hoping that our members and their family and friends can join us in raising funds for SLOW with their inspiring events from this weekend.
The 2.6 challenge has been set up by the London Marathon organisers as the race (also 26ish miles) is not going ahead this Sunday – the 26th April.
We’d love you to fundraise for SLOW by creating a personal challenge based around the figures 2.6 or 26.
So, you could do 26 cartwheels, 26 laps of your garden, a 2.6 mile / km run or walk, 26 minute of yoga or pogo’ing, or just run up and down your street 26 times!
Be creative the challenges are endless! It’s open to anyone of any age, sibs included, and the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government’s guidelines on exercising and social distancing.

Massive, massive congratulations to Harry Sroka, 12, who ran 13.7 km in just 66 minutes at the Great Midlands Fun Run on 2nd June – how fast?! And he doesn’t even look tired in the photos! He raised an incredible £525.75 for SLOW. Thanks Harry.
