Today we said a huge heartfelt thank you to Nic as she stands back from running the weekly Wednesday group after twelve years.

Countless bereaved parents, myself included, are thankful for the time she has devoted to this thriving group, giving us the ‘space to be loved and heard’.
The SLOW Warriors thank you gift for Nic and her daughter Naomi
Don’t worry though she’ll still be working hard for SLOW – mentoring our new facilitator recruits (more about them and our new Monday group soon), running the monthly evening group and SLOWsibs as well as the countless other things she does behind the scenes to help SLOW bereaved parents.
Thank you Nic – we are all truly grateful to you and Susie for setting up SLOW and the support you have given us all over the years.
We are delighted to announce that SLOW has been awarded its largest ever grant for three years from the National Lotteries Reaching Communities Fund.
The grant award comes after an 8-month process where SLOW’s grant application went to peer review, two regional panels and a national panel. Reaching Communities awarded SLOW with the full grant outlined in the application with further funding for supervision and strategic development of the charity.
The National Lottery Community Fund are the largest community funder in the UK. The fund is passionate about funding great ideas that matter to communities and make a difference to people’s lives. They work with the smallest of local groups right up to UK-wide charities, enabling people and communities to bring their ambitions to life.
This grant will ensure that SLOW can continue to support bereaved families in London for years to come and we are thrilled and truly grateful.
SLOW runs creative workshops for bereaved children that have lost a brother or sister so they can meet each other with the aim of reducing isolation, building resilience and confidence and making new friends. We provide a safe space to explore feelings and develop their creative skills.
SLOWsibs meets quarterly and previous workshops have included cupcake decoration, miniature worlds, gardening, marbling, decoupage and Christmas wreath making. Children aged 6 years to 15 years are invited to attend the groups.
Take a look at our picture gallery here to see some of the wonderful and creative work from our SLOWsibs.
